“The Butter Rulebook”
Saturae was born as an Open Call aiming to encapsulate these two elements to craft works that are both resonant and powerful. Launched in October 2024, Saturae invited photographers and videomakers to create images not only capable of saturating the senses, but also of enriching the soul; thus exploring the broad concept of saturation in its many forms and shades.
“The Butter Rulebook” by Gina Kazzi draws inspiration from the pale yellow shade of butter, a colour that evokes nostalgia and comfort, recalling the warm and gentle taste of childhood. It becomes not just a hue, but a symbol, one that contrasts with the rigid standards of contemporary beauty culture, which promotes low-calorie diets and restraint. In this context, butter becomes a temptation, a soft rebellion; a spoonful of sweetness that defies the rules. The photographs explore this complex and current tension between desire and the social expectations that seek to contain it.
